What should I bring when I come for an inpatient stay?
We recommend that you do NOT bring valuables such as jewelry, cash or items of great personal value to the hospital. We ask
that patients do NOT bring their own electronic equipment, such as TVs, VCRs and cell phones. Here’s what you SHOULD bring
with you for an inpatient stay:
- Personal identification such as a driver’s license
- Your insurance card
- Any medication you are taking
- Phone numbers of family and friends you may need to talk with
- A copy of your
advance directive or living will if you have one. If you don’t have an advance directive but want one, our
patient advocates can help.
- A phone card if you’ll need to make long-distance calls
- A change of clothes
- Books or magazines to read
Some patients also like to bring their own personal care items such as deodorant, shampoo and soap, and many bring a robe
and slippers.
