Visiting Guidelines
Welcome to Albert Einstein Medical Center/Einstein at Elkins Park/MossRehab where we are committed to creating a caring and
healing environment for our patients and their families. The hospital visiting hours have been set to support the clinical
and emotional needs of our patients.
H1N1 Visitation Guidelines
Due to the increased number of flu cases in the community, and in an effort to protect our patients, we are asking, for the time being, that children under the age of 16 not visit the hospital. While this may seem to be an inconvenience, it is very important for the well-being of our patients.
Also, we will ask you if you have fever and cough or sore throat. If you do, we will ask you not to visit at this time.

Health Screening
Visitors with colds, coughs, or other illnesses are asked to remain at home until they are well.
Do you have any of the following:
- Rash or skin infection?
- Fever?
- Sore throat?
- Cough, cold, or runny nose?
- Vomiting or diarrhea?
- Cold sore?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, you should wait to visit the patient until you feel better or you speak with
a care provider.
Visitor Passes and Number of Visitors
We ask that visitors get a visitor pass at the information desks in the main lobbies at the Medical Center and Elkins Park.
Please have passes visible and available for presentation upon request.
Due to space limitations and our concern for everyone’s safety and privacy, we ask that there only be 2 visitors present at
the bedside at a time.
Code of Conduct
All visitors must conduct themselves appropriately at all times, respect hospital staff, and policy. Failure to follow these
requests may result in visitors being asked to leave.
Waiting Areas
General visitor lounge areas are located in the main lobbies and on most units at the Medical Center and Elkins Park. The
surgical family waiting area is located on the third floor of the Tower Building at the Medical Center. Monday through Friday
between 11:30 am and 8:00 pm, a liaison, or a contact person, is on duty in the Surgical Family Waiting Area to keep family
members informed about the progress of surgery. At other times nursing staff fill this need. The Medical Center cafeteria,
located on the main floor, is also available to visitors 24 hours a day.
Children
We ask that the patient and family speak with the nurse to determine if it would be possible for a child, under the age of
12, to visit. The nursing staff will work with patients and family members to review the patient’s current condition and whether
it might pose any concerns to a child. The staff will also work with the patient and family to determine a timeframe and length
for the visit. Children given permission to visit must be supervised by a responsible adult, who is not the patient, at all
times.
General Visitation - Hours: 9 am to 9 pm
Albert Einstein Medical Center, Einstein at Elkins Park, and MossRehab
For patient privacy and dignity, there may be times during medical procedures, nursing procedures, or therapy sessions when
visitors will be asked to wait in a lounge or lobby area.

the patient in the labor room. Siblings under 12 are able to visit or be present for the birth when the mother-to-be, doctor,
and nurse agree. Please speak with your care-providers, they will help you make a decision about the presence of children
and prepare them. A responsible adult, who is not the patient, must be with children under the age of 12 at all times. Due
to space and privacy concerns, only one support person is able to remain with the mother-to-be during triage.
*Additional visitation guidelines for Labor and Delivery are available from the staff.
