Title: Health on the Web: Bridging the Digital Divide to Einstein's Patients
Funded by: The Wachovia Foundation and the Albert Einstein Society
Status: Currently being initiated
Overview:The purpose of this one-year program is to teach patients how to access quality health information on the Internet through
an interactive online curriculum and outreach program. The program targets patients most affected by the "digital divide"
(a term referring to the gap between those who can and cannot effectively use new information and communication tools), such
as individuals with limited exposure to computers. Currently, Health on the Web classes are being created for patients with
gestational diabetes, Type 2 diabetes and parents of children with asthma. The goal of this program is to increase patient's
health knowledge and become empowered partners in their own healthcare.
